2010 Volkswagen Polo won the World Car of the Year (WCotY) in an announcement on the New York International Auto Show in Manhattan. Polo victory was at the same time continuing achievements in 2009 achieved by the Volkswagen Golf.
Polo reached a victory after eliminate 30 contestants were chosen by 52 judges from 25 nations. In addition to announcing Polo, WCotY committee also placed the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Toyota Prius as the three best contestants in this year.
Other than the three best contestants, seven of the 10 other finalists are WCotY 2010 Audi Q5, BMW X1, the Chevrolet Cruze, Kia Soul, Mazda3, Opel / Vauxhall Insignia, and the Porsche Panamera.
WCotY established since 2003 and introduced in January 2004, it first gives grace to the world’s best car Audi A6 in 2005. After the 2006 victory was given to the BMW 3 Series, Lexus LS460 in 2007, and 2008 for the Mazda2/Demio, and last year for the Volkswagen Golf.
